For the offender, for the offended…

A gem that popped out of my Bible today…think it is meant to be heard by the offended as well as the offender…

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. (Psalm 28:13)

Nothing I can add to that…

  1. For it is the transgression that we ask forgiveness to God and to the offended; it is the doing of something good that is hidden from all, so that your Father in heaven will reward you.

    Matthew 6:2 (King James Version)

2Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

  2. Hi Jocelyn, thanks for the comment. Sorry I’ve been slow to respond…I have been on a blog break.

I think I hear you saying a desire for restitution–a doing something good for the offended and/or God–is part of repentance….and in doing so, it should be done without calling attention to oneself. Reward from God comes when we give in this way…
